Safety Program Manager

Location : Rochester, NH

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for managing the safety and regulatory compliance for the company.  This position is also responsible for communicating all safety related information to employees. Job duties include but are not limited to; developing training programs, conducting training, developing SOP’s, and performing safety and compliance audits. Ensuring compliance with federal, state, local regulations and company policies, attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and prioritize are essential.

Essential functions:

Auditing

  • Conduct district safety compliance audits
  • Conduct district field audits
  • Conduct district and corporate regulatory compliance audits

Incident/Accident Investigation

  • Perform accident and incident investigations
  • Conduct root cause analysis
  • Complete an accident/incident report for each investigation

Training

  • Assist with the development of the training calendar
  • Develop safety training courses as needed
  • Conduct employee training as follows but not limited to; new employee training, hazmat refresher, CETP, SPCC for oil facilities,  and continuing education for licensing
  • Other training as assigned

Safety Committee

  •  Chair the safety committee meetings
  • Prepare meeting agendas

Emergency Response

  • Coordinate emergency response personnel as necessary
  • Conduct emergency response training

Safety Meetings

  • Provide management team with required monthly meeting topics
  • Lead and participate in district safety meetings

Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)

  •  Develop new SOP’s as needed based on company needs and regulatory compliance
  • Review and update current SOP’s on a regular basis

Bulk Plants

  • Develop Operation and Maintenance Plans
  • Develop Fire Safety Analysis Plans
  • Review and update plans as needed

SPCC Plan Management

  • Review and update plans as needed
  • Coordinate services from a 3rd party when a more thorough review is required

DOT CSA

  • Review CSA information frequently
  • Provide a quarterly report to management

Other Duties:

  • Complete work assignments accurately and timely

  • Keep all employee information confidential and only use employee information in the context of assigned duties
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required:

  • 10 years industry experience
  • In-depth knowledge of EPA, OSHA, and DOT FMCSA regulations
  • In-depth knowledge of NFPA 31, 54,58, and other codes
  • In-depth knowledge of the pertinent State rules and regulations we operate in
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to communicate with co-workers in a clear, concise and respectful manner
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and analyze data
  • Reliability and good employee service skills
